Richard Bawden
Richard Bawden (1936–2024) was an English painter, printmaker, and designer whose career spanned over 60 years. The son of artist Edward Bawden, he studied at Chelsea School of Art, St Martin’s School of Art, and later at the Royal College of Art.
Bawden’s work was rooted in observation from life, often exploring themes of domesticity. His prints, primarily etchings and linocuts, are distinguished by a strong sense of design, with a characteristic balance of texture and pattern.
He exhibited widely throughout his career and was a respected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, the Royal Watercolour Society, and the New English Art Club.
